Yes, I have experienced counselling. I found it really useful to talk about some of the things going on in my life to someone who wouldn’t interrupt me and had no vested interest in how I was thinking/feeling. It’s useful to have that space to talk openly about thoughts and feelings.

Yes, career counselling when I was at uni. On my second year at uni, I wasn’t sure if psychology is right for me so I sought the help of a counsellor.

      Yes, with mixed results!
The first time it did not go well.
The second time I was able to choose who I saw, and found it incredibly helpful.
It can be very helpful to talk about how you’re feeling with someone who is trained to listen without judgement and is impartial

Yes, I have been to counselling which was offered to me by my work as part of an employee assistance programme.
I found it helpful but it’s a bit strange to just talk about myself for an hour when normal conversations work both ways.

Personally, I haven’t but I’ve had some training on basic counselling skills. Can be really benefical to get some basic counselling skills under your belt even if you don’t train to be a counsellor – may help in any role or career where you work with people!

No, but I have a bit of training. Some of the skills used in counselling come in really handy when teaching students.
