It can be very useful for a lot of people. There are lots of different types of medication for different types of mental health problems. For anxiety and depression people are usually prescribed an anti-depressant to lift their mood or reduce their anxious thoughts. However, some people see medication as masking the problem (just like putting a plaster on a cut doesn’t heal the wound). So I would always advise that someone has some talking therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy alongside taking medication so that the cause of their mental health problem can also be addressed.
