I had some really good lecturers during my A-levels and under graduate degree. They made it seem really interesting which inspired me.

It was my high school teacher who inspired me to do psychology at uni. She did psychology herself and she talks a lot about psychology in the class.

I find psychology interesting because it is such a varied field. There are many subfields in psychology. For instance, I did a research project on health psychology for my MSc, but now I have also developed an interest in cyberpsychology and mental health.

Even when I was young I was interested in other people and why they behave in certain ways, so studying Psychology seemed to make a lot of sense to me. I really enjoyed studying A-level Psychology, so much so that I went on to do a degree and a master’s degree in it!

I think just being curious about why people are the way they are started me off on the journey to becoming a Chartered Psychologist. Asking questions about why some people behave in particular ways… why some people have these various mental health experiences… I was lucky to have some inspiring lecturers at university who gave me inspiration to go into research a bit later on (not always directly – just hearing them talk about their work fascinated me)

I was curious about the brain and the ways we can study it – it looked really cool!

I was really fascinated in people – what makes them tick, why they act the way they do, how they interact with one another. I never studied psychology at school but almost as soon as I found out what it was, that was what I wanted to do
