For me, meeting new people. That might be participants when I’m collecting data with them, or perhaps healthcare professionals/specialists, or maybe other researchers.

There’s lots of rewarding things – but I do like the feeling of seeing your research getting published and being able to talk to others about what you’ve found and what they think of your work (hopefully positive!). Always nice to see that study you’ve put a lot of time into get published! I also like seeing students graduate especially when you see someone who has really improved in their confidence and knowledge over the course of their degree – there are some nice stories of students who I’ve taught and have then gone onto do their own research, study for PhDs and other things!

That I don’t have to commute – I work from home.

I spent most of my time managing my website (Psychreg) and I also go to different countries to organise conference. This year, I have four conferences that I’m organising. I am off to Philippines, Malaysia and Romania. Travelling, that’s very rewarding for me.

When you make a real difference to someone’s life that is the most rewarding part to me.
People sometimes contact me to say what a difference having my support has made and that’s exactly why I do the job I do!

Working with trainee researchers and students as they develop their skills – it’s really nice to watch confidence grow.

It is wonderful when a student who has struggled during their degree succeeds in getting the grades they deserve – or when one of my personal tutees who was lacking in confidence goes on to succeed in their chosen job
