For me, Tara, it’s about the focus on people and how we think, feel and behave. I really enjoy learning about different ideas of why people behave and do the things they do.

It’s about studying different approaches in psychology: behavioural, biological, cognitive, evolutionary, humanistic, psychodynamic, and sociocultural.

These approaches remind us that there are different ways of looking at behaviours – you can’t just put it on a box.

For me, asking questions which Psychology can answer. I think Psychology as a science can be applied to almost any situation or issue where people are involved. I genuinely find Psychology fascinating and I enjoy hearing about people’s research in areas of Psychology which are very different to my own research.

Psychology is an applied subject – we can help people with our research. I use biology, chemistry, physics and maths to understand brain function and how this relates to behaviour. It’s awesome!

I find it fascinating to study why people behave they way they do.
We can often judge people based on their behaviour (because often that’s all we see), but it’s really important to understand why they are acting that way as it’s often not for the reasons we think at first glance
