Good on you Tara!! Have a look at the BPS website and the Uni’s that you’re interested in to make sure the course is BPS accredited. Other than that, make sure you visit a few of the Uni’s that you have whittled your potential enrollment down to. You’re there for at least 3 years, so it’s got to be somewhere that feels right for you!

Good choice 🙂 I’d echo Olly’s comment – check out the BPS website to get an idea of what psychology is, and then check out some of the unis you are considering. There are some good introductory textbooks out there; if you live in a town/city that has a university (or can easily visit) you could see if there’s a bookshop near the university – whatever textbooks they have in will usually be the ones that are recommended for the course nearby (supply and demand!).
In terms of websites, I’m afraid I don’t know as I don’t tend to use them – we encourage students to go to textbooks or studies instead!

In addition to what Olly and Caroline have already said, you might also want to consider university rankings. For instance, Times Higher Education has annual ranking of top universities and you can filter them by subject (i.e., psychology). You can check it out here: http://bit.do/eUSfq

Going to a top university is of course not the most important thing. But the reputation of a university can certainly play a role.

Also, if you have already a university in mind, navigate their website. See some YouTube videos of the students who talk about their experiences – It will give you an idea if it’s the right uni for you.

Great choice Tara, I’m sure you’ll love it!
I agree with the others, make sure the course is BPS accredited and be sure to visit any universities you are interested in so you know that it’s the right place for you.
It might also be worth checking out you tube to see if any students have made videos about what life is like at the Uni you are interested in?
      Good luck with your application!

Definitely the BPS website – they have some excellent pages on careers in Psychology which might help give you some ideas of what you can do with a Psychology degree. Have a look at the universities you’re interested in studying at and definitely go to their Open Days to have a look at what their departments are like, what facilities they have, what sort of research they do, and what they teach on their courses.

Current students can be a really great source of information – if you go on an open day try to have a chat with them to really find out what it’s like
