I was bullied when I was a student because I’m gay. But I always fight back.

I think people become bullies because they are jealous of someone or something a person owns.

Bullies should not be tolerated. You should report them to your teachers and family.

I do not think people should bully one another and they should always be reported and dealt with appropriately.
However sometimes it can be helpful for someone to talk to the bully about how they are feeling and why they are acting the way they are because they might be upsetting others because of a problem in their own life.

I think bullies are often quite afraid and fearful, and often bully others because of their own fear of something. If you’re being bullied then I would tell someone (friends, family, teachers) and also not let what the bullies say or do bother you too much, otherwise they’ll have won.

I’m not the tallest of people, so used to get bullied sometimes at school. My opinion on bullies is really not cool!! I do think that Rob has an extremely good point. Since moving on from school and thinking back to some of the people that did pick on me, it’s made me think that perhaps they had their own worries and fears about something which they projected on to me…. I’ll never know… What i do know is that you should speak to your teachers. Or, have you got a mutual friend with the bully? How about a private word with them and let them know that what the bully is doing/saying isn’t okay…

I’m not a fan! Bullies (and unfortunately they exist outside of school too) can make other people feel small, insignificant, and can affect their mental health and wellbeing. However, as others have said, there is generally a reason why people choose to bully others and it is often because they are struggling themselves. It’s important to treat them (and everyone) with kindness and compassion, while also making sure that they know their behaviour is wrong. If you or anyone reading this is experiencing bullying, do speak to your teachers, as they have experience of dealing with these situations in a helpful and sensitive way. It’s important though to speak up as soon as you can – nip it in the bud, so to speak.

It’s hard to understand why as a kid, other kids bully or are bullied. Kids are mean to each other and it’s not ok. There are loads of reasons why horrible things happen but adults are needed to help out when things like this go on. It’s really hard but it would be good to speak out if bullying is known.
